Role Description/Criteria
The role of the Learning Support Officer will include:
- Implementing individual learning plans
- Assisting students to develop personal, social and/or independent skills
- Using strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support students to achieve learning and/or social goals
- Supporting and assisting in the care, learning and positive engagement of students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.
- Helping students stay focused and engaged in learning tasks
- Assisting students with organisation, routines and transitions
- Supporting student wellbeing and positive social interactions
- Assisting with First Aid
- Attending Program Support Group meetings when required
- Participating in professional development sessions and regular Professional Learning Team meetings
- Providing assistance with school routines
- Creating and providing resources for teaching staff to ensure students with learning needs are assisted in the classroom and given the best opportunity for inclusion and success
- Communicating with other Learning Support Officers to ensure the continuity of programs
- Work as part of our LSO team and participate in team meetings
- Assist students on an individual or group basis across all levels
- Recording daily adjustments made for individual students
- Adapting to different classroom environments and student needs
