Role Description/Criteria

Clairvaux Catholic School in Belmont, Geelong, is seeking enthusiastic and committed classroom teachers to join our vibrant four-stream school. We are wholly committed to the Science of Learning, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and educational excellence.

We are working towards developing a whole-school implementation ofÌý Evidence-Based teaching focussing on explicit instruction for all new learning. We focus on teaching approaches that are grounded in key instructional practices including strategies to enhance memory retention (such as Daily Review) and using teaching methods that focus on gaining student attention, checking for understanding and giving feedback.Ìý

Our curriculum is comprehensive and well-rounded, featuring programs such as: Little Learners Love Literacy, Spelling Mastery, Knowledge Rich Units and Novel Studies.Ìý

  • a passion for teaching and learning
  • an ongoing commitment to professional growth
  • contemporary teaching and learning knowledge and practices of high - impact strategies
  • the ability to use and analyse student performance data strategically to inform their teaching for continuous school improvement
  • they are able to facilitate student learning using their understanding and practical knowledge of Evidence-Based Learning practices (with a knowledge of: The Science of Reading i.e. Systematic Synthetic Phonics, the Science of Learning and Explicit Instruction)
  • a proven ability to work and plan collaboratively in a Professional Learning Team and contribute to a positive team environment
  • a commitment to building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • a strong commitment to student wellbeing and child safety
  • a sound knowledge and commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education
