Role Description/Criteria
A Learning Support Officer is a Professional who provides support to students who require extra assistance to address their additional needs. The primary responsibility of an LSO is to work closely and cooperatively with teaching staff to provide support for students in all settings such as classrooms, one-to-one and small groups.
This position requires a person who is open, creative, and flexible in their approach and who is able to work with a range of students to support their individual needs. This includes providing a variety of approaches to allow each student to reach their full academic potential. The LSO will need to be accountable for implementing learning strategies to suit each student whilst encouraging students to develop a sense of responsibility towards their own education.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Competent use of ICT and a strong commitment to utilising learning technologies is essential, as well as experience working in a similar position in a school setting.
A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (NPC) are required. Up to date First Aid and Anaphylaxis training would be advantageous.
