Role Description/Criteria

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Catholic educator to lead and shape whole-school strategies that strengthen student connection, wellbeing, attendance, and motivation — aligned with ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™ Vision for Engagement. As Deputy Principal – Engagement, you will work alongside the Principal and Leadership Team to foster an inclusive and thriving school culture where every student is known, valued, and empowered to flourish.

In this strategic leadership position, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™ÌýVision for Engagement across the school
  • Embed evidence-based practices that support student connection, motivation, wellbeing, and learning
  • Coordinate a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to meet the needs of all learners
  • Strengthen student voice and agency through initiatives like Student Commissioners
  • Build strong partnerships with families and community services
  • Guide staff professional learning in inclusive, trauma-informed, and engaging pedagogy
  • Use data to drive improvement in student attendance, wellbeing, and learning outcomes

We are looking for a leader who:

  • Is deeply committed to the mission and identity of Catholic education
  • Demonstrates leadership experience in Catholic parish primary schools
  • Is passionate about student engagement, belonging, and motivation
  • Has a strong understanding of inclusive education and MTSS
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Models reflective leadership and promotes staff and student growth
  • Leads with clarity, compassion, and a commitment to excellence

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education and leadership in a Catholic school context
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing
  • Have experience in a formally appointed leadership role in a Catholic parish primary school (e.g., Principal, Deputy Principal, REC, Curriculum Leader)
  • Hold current VIT registration
  • Hold academic qualifications in addition to initial teacher education (Master’s degree or five-year equivalent)
  • Have recent and substantial experience within Catholic parish primary schools (within the last five years)
  • Be accredited to teach Religious Education in Catholic schools (unless exempt under ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ policy)
