Role Description/Criteria

St Columba’s College Ltd is a Catholic secondary girls’ school located in Essendon under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and conducted in the tradition of the Sisters of Charity.

At St Columba’s College, care for creation and environmental responsibility are central to our commitment to justice, stewardship, and hope for the future. Our environmental initiatives support students and staff to live sustainably and act as responsible global citizens.

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Environment Steward to lead and support sustainability initiatives across the College. This role will work closely with students, staff, and leadership to embed environmental awareness, action, and responsibility into everyday school life.

This is a fixed term position working one day per week (8:00am to 4:06pm).

As the Environment Steward, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate whole-school sustainability and environmental programs
  • Support student leadership in environmental action and advocacy
  • Embed environmental education and sustainable practices across College operations
  • Coordinate initiatives such as waste reduction, recycling, biodiversity, and energy use
  • Work collaboratively with staff, students, and external partners on environmental projects
  • Promote awareness of environmental justice and care for creation within the College community

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience or strong interest in environmental education or sustainability initiatives
  • Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate students and staff
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach
