Role Description/Criteria
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Demonstrate practical work and laboratory techniques to students and assist teaching staff when required.
- Devise and prepare practical work and maintain an efficient system for use and allocation of materials and equipment, setting a priority system where necessary.
- Prepare all materials for practical lessons in advance when given appropriate notification in consultation with the science teachers
- Advise and assist science teaching staff in safety matters relating to the science laboratory
- Prepare solutions, stains and media for use in the laboratory.
- Maintain a safe chemical storage/handling/disposal system in accordance with current regulations, including an inventory of chemicals.Ìý
- Other duties as outlined in the position description.
The successful applicant can demonstrate the following competencies:
- Experience in laboratory work, preferably in a school environment
- Strong administration and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team of staff.
- Experience within a Catholic or similar educational organisation
- Current Working with Children's
