Role Description/Criteria
St Mary MacKillop Catholic Primary School is a short 15 - 20 minute drive from Geelong and is the only catholic primary school between Geelong and Ballarat. ÌýThe school sits in the heart of Bannockburn, a thriving and growing regional town in the Golden Plains Shire.
The community of St Mary MacKillop Catholic School Bannockburn is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced leaders for the position of Deputy Principal to begin in January 2026. The successful applicant will be employed at St Mary MacKillop in an ongoing capacity with the Deputy Principal role being for an agreed period of time.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience either as a Deputy Principal or in a significant leadership role. ÌýThis position is to replace the current Deputy Principal who is moving to a new position outside the school. ÌýThis is a significant position of leadership in a growing school. ÌýThe enrolment in 2026 will be 450 with the potential for substantial growth for the foreseeable future.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a proven record of leadership in faith development, relationship building and learning and teaching. The applicant will be an outstanding educator with a capacity to inspire excellence and a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education.
The Deputy Principal's key responsibility will be to support the Principal and Core Leadership Team as well as the effective management and operation of the daily organisation of the school. - Demonstrate a deep understanding of data and how it is used to improve student outcomes
People and Resources:
- Demonstrate a commitment to a shared and cooperative leadership model in a variety of teams.
- Demonstrate an ability to lead and support staff Ìýthrough a reflective practice and instructional coaching model.Ìý
Community Leadership:
- Demonstrate an ability to foster and maintain strong relationships, build partnerships and enhance the welcoming atmosphere of our school.
- Support the Principal in leading and enhancing parent engagement in learning through positive partnership and school culture between families, staff and students.
