Role Description/Criteria

The position

Loreto Toorak invites applications from experienced and dedicated educators to lead our Junior School (Rathfarnham) Music Program commencing Term 1, 2026. This full time leadership position carries a three-year tenure and includes a substantive ongoing teaching role.

Working closely with the wider co-curricular music department and ensembles, this role will develop and nurture the musical learning of all Rathfarnham students. Along with providing a stimulating classroom music learning environment, you will give support and assistance to the Director of Music in relation to the annual calendar of events planned across the school. The role involves teaching classroom music from P-6 and actively participating in the whole-school ensemble program.

About You

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, including experience as a junior school music classroom practitioner. Proficiency in the Kodály music curriculum and choral direction is essential. Strong relationship-building and team management skills are crucial for success in this position. A level of proficiency in a band or string instrument and keyboard accompaniment skills will be highly regarded.
